I had 2 bridal photo shoots today at a local botanical gardens. My temp sensor on my truck said it was 101f when I got there around 11 am. I just left and it said 103f. In those 3.5-4 hours I became dehydrated. To the point that driving back I had to stop in a burger king and get something to drink because I felt like I was going to pass out. Man I love warm weather and absolutely hate cold weather but when its this hot its just too much. Anyway if you guys have to do something outside today remember to drink plenty of water.

Funny story:

The computer store i work at is in a new building, which used to be a restaurant. The previous building owner did all the work himself, and not very well.

We had a HUGE downpour of rain in the last few days, and had some standing water on the roof. Well, it started to leak in a few spots. We put down buckets and cleared inventory from risk areas, and all was well.

When we came into the store this morning, there was a HUGE hole in the ceiling over my bosses desk, with a big pipe sticked out of it. Turns out that one of the old restaurant range hood stacks on the roof was ONLY HELD IN PLACE BY TAR. Water got in around it during the downpour and swelled the wood, and then the hot temperatures from yesterday softened the tar and dried the water, making the wood shrink.

Stack falls in through roof, and slowly kept falling. It was about a foot in when we got here, and by the time the roofers came around noon, it was 2 feet in. :D

The lesson here: hot weather is nice, but it can also suck.

Actually, I guess this was pretty off topic, but I wanted to share it anyways. Stay hydrated!

Yeah, I hate the heat. Thermostat on the Durango decided to give out today. Not fun.

The ride needed to go in the shop anyways, now I'll just have the mechanics look it over from headlight to taillight and fix EVERYTHING that is still under warranty.

Call me crazy, but I'll take 40 below any day of the week over this ****. At least then my allergies aren't bothering me.

Yea, I've rode my bike in true squid fashion a few times the past two months. When I went to get the Ninja serviced two weeks ago I rode a total of 80 miles up and back I-85 in shorts and tennis shoes. The thing that sucked was it was misting when I got to the shop at 8:30am, and it was so hot when I left at noon that I broke a sweat just putting my jacket, helmet, and gloves back on.

I always carry a water bottle with me though. I think the stat is over 50% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

40 below might be pushing it. But yeah you can always put more clothes on. I work in an industrial bakery, 85 outside = 100+ inside. Then they lay us off in the winter when the heat from the ovens would be a plus, go figure. The plus side of summer heat, bikinis.

BOOO! Never do ride in shorts! Hamburger waiting to happen...

But yes I know the pains of riding in full leathers at 95 degrees.

I ride in shorts, but cover them with my leathers just to be safe. One nice thing is that both my jacket and pants are ventilated. At 80mph my jacket acts like a big kite and wants to pull me off the back.

It is getting warmer and warmer here in San Jose. This is the first morning this week that I was not riding to work in a fog bank. My side mirrors fogged up when I hit the summit this morning.

I like both extremes though. Cold is easier to deal with since you can put on as many layers as you need. You can only take of so many clothes to cool down. I fired up the mister on the deck this last weekend and sat sipping a cider in the mist....

For others maybe, but not for me. I swear I've got anti-freeze running through my veins.

I do have to agree with the bikini statement, though.
