Some time last night my the hosting company I have my photography site hosted on got attacked. The user control panel was changed or something and it rendered my site, and about 3000 others dead.... All of my files are still on my server its just the databases that are affected. So the drupal re design I have been working on for the past month is not working. They say that everything will be back to normal in the next 3-18 hours. I wonder if they are going to prorate my bill.

I would check with your host to see if they have a end user SLA (Service level agreement) this is the agreement that states we will have 99.99% uptime and whatever else.

Maybe you can use that or some other T&C to your advantage and gain some money back or have the ability to exit your contact on the spot to go with a more reliable company

It says 98% uptime, I am paid up through october 2010 so not much point in asking for $2 back for 24 hours of down time.

Well they got the main site fixed but had to remove all the databases from 6 servers. Mine was one of them. So I have to reinstall drupal. Yay.
