I've thought that a few times while reading throughout his website. Don't forget about the previous posts link at the bottom of the page! This is some seriously interesting reading material. He's a pretty good photographer too, which definitely improves the reading experience.
I just spent the past hour reading some of his "adventures". Taking a break now, but I can't wait to get back into it! This is great stuff!

Saw a video of a kid that did that with bullet trains in Europe. He had terminal cancer and wanted to live the last months of his life doing whatever. He chose to surf bullet trains.

How much HP does a machine like that have anyway? Always wanted to get one of those, instead of those pansy sea-doos

I've got a 2005 kawasaki SXR800 - 800cc, ~100HP, 350lbs RTR. Bens ski when its done will be ~900cc, ~170HP and 150lbs RTR
but also take into account that theres 800-1000 lbs of thrust coming out of the jet nozzle too :devious:

Outdoor exploration is cool, I like old forts and stuff. There is an abandoned subway tunnel system near where I live. I haven't had a chance to check it out yet.

I don't understand how things can go abandoned? It drives me insane to think "HOLY HELL I CAN GET THOUSANDS FOR THIS..."

I think things go abandoned because it would cost more to get it ready/able to be sold then you would get out of it. You have to conform with EPA laws, etc.
In Minnesota, there was a smart mining company who donated there old mine to the state so that the state could turn it into a Park. Saved them from having to clean it up.
It makes a really cool tour to go 2.5k ft down into the earth

I think most "abandoned" places are owned by some organization or another just left to rot because it would cost to much to make the place useful or prep it for sale.
The abandoned Rochester Subway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rochester_Subway) near me was actually built out of a portion of the Erie Canal that was covered over when it was diverted to go around the city. There are periodic talks of restoring the subway or turning it into an underground walkway (either would be damn useful with out winters) but right now the majority of it has been filled in with dirt.
Another interesting abandoned subway is the Cincinnati Subway (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cincinnati_Subway) which was built but never used.
