Project: Bloody Babe

I sure you've all seen the pics and idea in the chit chat section, so here we go:

I printed the picture onto the decal paper using the transparancy setting on my colour laserjet:

then i assembled all my equipment:

Taken apart and cleaned:

and the unwritten rule of the cat picture, say hello to Esso:

and SGTM's advice about crices was well founded, i tried to smooth them out, see the end result at the end:

the end result:

Not as good a quality i wanted, but not bad for my first attempt with such a complex shape to cover, next time im gonna use a clear decal so the creases wont be so visable, also the scratches shouldn't be as noticeable, Oh well, not bad for a test run.

Thoughts?

Honestly for a first try, that's not too bad. Its not great though IMO.

Have you looked into having it dipped? http://www.hydro-dip.com/

I'm not sure how much this costs. cut it will certainly give you the results you want.

Here is some of their work. http://www.hydrodipping.com/Abstract-Custom/index.html

JESUS thats expencive, good but a little costly.

I know its not exactly what i would call good, but i hope to get better over time. might look into doing a mouse with less curves, like a microsoft intelipoint. also use clear transfurs, and maybe not cover the whole thing, just put like a logo on it

I think it's pretty cool, the cratches give the mouse a funny texture that fit's into the theme :)

Looks freakin' great for being the first time!!!

You might look at using adhesive vinyl backed instead of decal transfers. That way you can maybe use a little heat to stretch it if needed, and reduce some of the creases as well..

yea, went looking at mice today, to find one that should be fairly simple to do, and i agree next time i will use vinyl and see if thats any easier,

it looks good, one thing to do is maybe take a permanent red marker and color in where the creases are white to make it less noticeable as well :)

Cant talk about the mouse mat :O

also esso is a mean and humppy cat. move to have charlie or a nicer cat who likes me next time :) and I love the chic on the pics there sweet

not bad tho. a good cover up would be to get a model brush, some thick black paint and some thin masking tape and you could create a nice black border to cover the white cracks on the edges. that is what stood out to me the most.

Over all I like it and were your going with it.
another suggestion if your still working on the "lets sand off all the keys keyboard" project is to have a huge image that is over the keys.. might give it a kik A%$ look. matching mouse would be the dogs you know whats

Yes that was in my mind, i was thinking of laying it over the keys, and letting it dry, then cutting between the keys, but not sure how noticeable it would be, or better yet:

Workout a picture on the keys with the image on them, and print each key and do them one by one.

Hey,

I work in a printing shop (print on paper only) and my dad owns a commercial sign business (prints on metal, glass, vinyl, etc.).

I don't know in particular how modding would work for this mouse, but I can tell you a couple things... For one thing, when we cut paper or stickers in a printing shop we always place some trash paper underneath the good stack of paper, because that cracked edge will only appear on the bottom sheet. However, this is on a cutting machine (guillotine style). If I were you I would just print the shape on a sheet of regular paper. Then stack a few sheets of regular paper on top and below the printed page. Then put the paper with the outline on top, and cut using whatever tool you want. Even scissors could work if you secured the pages well.

As for vinyl, that could definitely work. Any commercial sign business can usually print on vinyl. It's just an issue of if they are willing to take on such a small job (and if they did it would probably be too expensive). You might be best off looking for a custom die-cut sticker - maybe there is a site that does something like that for a more reasonable fee. You could request that kind of sticker, though it wouldn't be the same quality as vinyl, at a printing place but again they will probably want to print more than one...
