I don't know why people don't just make this stuff from scratch. I mean seriously, the recipe is lightweight and super ultra easy to make plus you can make so many more cookies for your buck. The trick I guess is not burning them. Somehow, Toll House are like halfway impossible to burn. It kind of freaks me out sometimes. lol

What I can't figure out is I've been eating the stuff, homemade and prepackaged for YEARS!! and never gotten sick.. Even though I've been to Serve-Safe I still can't resist the dough.

A bunch of people got sick from the product because they didn't follow directions, and the company is going to lay off workers because of it? I can only see that being justified if they deliberately tampered with it. People really are stupid. I fear for the future.

I gotta ask where was the testing on this? E.Coli means that there's feces in the supply line or manufacturing line. They shipped 86.4 million cookies worth of dough and nobody caught this until folks start dropping? Sound like someone asleep at the switch.

Though cooking the product would kill the bacteria, the agency did not recommend that people holding on to the company's cookie-dough products do so, "because consumers might get the bacteria on their hands and on other cooking surfaces."

Either way, I think I'm going to avoid the cookies for awhile.
