Save Our Stuff (www.saveourstuff.co.uk)
Save Our Stuff is a business idea by one of our forum members Si-Skyline also known in the real world as Simon McGuire. The service firstly targets students to back up work and boost grades at university by not losing work, and secondly to professional business men to prevent vital work data being lost.
we will offer a service to family's what will be called turtle backups and will have some cool features to help kids get into the routine of backing there little paint documents up, and allow the whole family to get together on the act. The aim of the turtle backups will be to change the icons within a operating system to have a colour coded turtle on targeted files what need backing up. This for example could be a green turtle for its safe, orange indicate be careful it’s not backed up yet and red turtle to say there is a error to the backup server.
The main selling point is that it gets rid of "jargon" by not having per MB, GB or terabyte. Instead we have a file-o-meter what shows allowance/usage of file slots to make it easy.
The main office of Save Our Stuff is based in Sheffield centre and it is its aim to get support of local universities. Another angle Save our stuff are going is to allow people to come to the office and talk to staff and back work up in the office. Facilities we are intending to have are CD backups and other forms of digital medium, paper back-ups providing useful for students who have to hand write work because it is not uncommon for universities to lose work.
It is currently seeking small businesses of any size to help with promotion partnerships and give away free backup space to help build a reputation, for this PMing Si-Skyline or E-mailing information@saveourstuff.co.uk will start the process.
Currently Save Our Stuff is in a competition to win £5000 and its now in the finals. Needing the final push with ideas and things people want from it, the final round is to submit a full business plan by august 2009 what I'm working on now.
If you could be so kind as to full in a questionnaire for me this would be great.
Questionnaire here (https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=x3e_2bGCDjLwrACXu_2f6wy_2bDw_3d_3d)
Any advice and such would be greatly appreciated, if so please just post here.
Please note this is not my project but Si-Skyline's (http://www.thebestcasescenario.com/forum/member.php?find=lastposter&t=19415)
