I'm looking for a good OBD to USB setup with OBD programs for Windows so I can start to diagnose '96+ cars. Something with a decent GUI would be nice.

Any other car/computer geeks here? I'm sure I'm not the only one...

Reason for asking is I need to start running diagnostics on vehicles but want to use my laptop instead of a stand-alone handheld device, because, well, my laptop has more power and storage so I can keep records and such. That, and I figure PC-based OBD reading software will be more powerful and intuitive than a handheld device anyways.

thanks.

Might want to check out MP3Car.com (http://www.mp3car.com/). I know quite a few CarPCs can be set up to read codes.

I have an OBD1 - USB cable I use to tune my camaro. Let me see if I can find the site I bought it from a few years ago. The problem is that the ALDL ports are different from manufacture to manufacture.

Here is the guys I used. http://www.aldlcable.com/
