3.5 Beta 4 came with with my Fedora 11 upgrade. Pretty nice, not too many changes but the better performance I'd count as a significant improvement.

I found one down point. Tab Mix Plus isn't compatible with it yet :*( No more multiple rows of tabs for me for a while :dead:

I get nothing but crashes on many sites. Disabled flash and it went away. Downgraded back to 3.0.11 now I get the same issues there, when they weren't happening before.

Also got frustrated with some sites going into endless loops and having to taskman firefox. Granted, those didn't seem like the best made sites, as they were when looking for info on google and searching through links.

Ughhh. Downgrading fixed the loop issues, but not the flash issues. This wasn't an issue until I installed 3.5. I can't even log into paypal without crashing with flash enabled.

Yeah, I found that my Fingerprint reader for access to bank accounts doesn't work with it.

Facebook crashes a good bit with it, our own TBCS chat will not show any of the options like font color or the smilies, and the fact that 27 out of my 45 or so addons are still not updated to 3.5 standards is making me think about downgrading. The add-ons are not mozilla's fault. They are the devs fault who should have updated them during the beta phase.

A couple of my extensions weren't compatible but the speed makes up for it. I'm impressed.

Download Aviary (http://aviary.com/home) on the fly editor.

http://img188.imageshack.us/img188/4365/aviary.jpg

Aviary, the company behind a suite of collaborative web-based image editing software, has released a Firefox plug-in that's a must-have. Create an account at Aviary, download the plug-in called Talon, and within minutes you'll be joyfully clipping full and partial screenshots into the very full-featured Aviary web editor. It's so easy, but at the same time so full-featured, that it's a real pleasure to use.

Plugins, themes, etc. Although, I haven't used IE in awhile, so maybe they have all of that stuff too? Firefox still sounds cooler than Internet Explorer though if you ask me. :p

I switched back to Firefox from Chrome because I was sick of the bugs or the other random stuff that happens more often than it should. So far... its just as fast as chrome except on cold start, which is fine since I rarely turn off my computer.

Edit: Installing IE8... interesting...

Edit 2: FINALLY. Jeez. 6 minutes to download and install a browser?? on a pretty fast connection? Lame.

Edit 3: AND now I have to restart my computer?? Seriously? So far not so good for the IE experience...

Features:
1st Place = Firefox
2nd Place = IE8
3rd = Chrome

Speed:
1st Place = Tie

Bugs and Glitches, etc:
1st Place = Firefox, IE8
2nd Place = Chrome

Things like Adblock:
1st Place = Firefox
2nd Place = Chrome, IE8

Results:
Firefox = 4 Wins
IE8 = 2 Wins
Chrome = 1 Win

FIREFOX WINS! ...even when you exclude "Things like Adblock", Firefox still wins. But I'm not going to lie, I've been using Adblock for about two weeks now and its a pretty awesome feature. I was just fine without it, but it is kind of nice.

IE8 has yet to work around the popup,security, and addons. I currently have about 58 addons that make FF3.5 the best browser ever.

What about opera? :?

What about opera? :?

I knew someone was going to say that. lol

What about Safari for that matter? I totally forgot about them and they're a pretty big player. I would say Safari is about the same as IE8, maybe slightly better because they do have some neat features. I haven't used them in a couple months though so I can't really remember any specifics, but I do remember thinking "oh, thats pretty cool". I also thought they were pretty... pretty? lol

Anyways, here is why I don't care about Opera and why they are barely even relevant. Courtesy of wikipedia...

http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/5394/600pxwebbrowserusagesha.png

They're less than even the "Other", aka - the browsers that weren't even worthy of being listed. I've used Opera before way back when and I liked it alright. They're only real feature that sets them apart is the built in torrent. But I use uTorrent, quite happily, so I really don't care about that. They're a good browser if nothing else makes you happy I guess. ...you might say "why list Chrome, they're not much better than Opera" and I'll reply "because they're new, they haven't had enough time to saturate the market or get their **** together as perfectly as the other main browsers. Give them time, they'll get there. However, Opera has been around for quite some time.". No hard feelings, but I just don't see Opera as a serious contender in the browser market.

Heyy come on now. Opera is a great browser, it doesnt crash or have flash problems, is compatible with alot of programs and has customizable skins. In my eyes its the perfect browser.

Plus Firefox has more of everything AND adblock+. ;)

:D

......
Edit: I will say however that if your machine has issues with Firefox for whatever reason, Opera is probably your best next bet for something similar. Although I've always had issues with Firefox and since I've upgraded to the latest version I haven't had an issue since. Not trying to be a fanboy or anything, just stating the facts as I see them, and the facts seem to lean quite a bit in FF's favor.

Single most important reason to not use IE from a security standpoint:
ActiveX
And, conveniently, about the only reason I have to use it anymore.... it's a sad world we live in :(

The current version of IE mobile (the version in WinMo) is actually based on the IE4 codebase, iirc.

And apparently IE decided to go ahead and change my default browser to it too. Awesome.

IE sucks! Although the browser itself isn't that bad really. Its certainly not as good as any of the other browsers, imho.
