Anyone seen this?
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/8139711.stm
Its an interesting move, but after google chromes cia funding, i think i'll be steering clear of it!
There was talk about it a few weeks ago but I didn't think they were going to announce anything this soon.
If it's like Android, I'd like to try it out. It's supposed to run on x86 and ARM chips.

From what I heard about it this morning on CNN it sounds like they are basing it off of Chrome and it might be a browser type OS. Interestingly enough I also read an article on digg about MS Deving a browser type OS to be used on future netbooks and mobile devices.

Well, if its anything like the Chrome browser, I'll be interested for sure. Simplicity, speed and an understanding of what (some) consumers want. Google is pretty good on delivering those things, so I'm excited. Although I'm not sure how I feel on the whole Web OS thing.

Yeah, it seems they are going for a very lightweight OS, geared more towards the general net user. I can see it being a hit for netbook and possibly laptop users.

If they can pull it off and mix chrome with android it might revolutionize net books. I wonder if it will be a free OS or if they will charge for it? Maybe we will only see it released on smart phones and eeePC's. I honestly would like to see it on a 10" netbook that's sub $200 and has easily replaceable components like SSD.

lol That icon looks like a Simon Says game where you press the buttons in the order they light up.
I think this could be cool. I wish they had an OS for gaming where you just boot it up almost right into the game you want to play without all the bull**** that Windows has.

Whos following this closely?
I'm keeping an eye on it.
Like some of the comments on that link that pcclan posted just above this, the target demographic will be users who spend all of their computer time on the Internet. So that basically means netbook users, I guess.
Looks like it might be free too.
The only problem I can see so far is that some of the software/data will be in the cloud. This would be a problem for me. I don't always have Internet access.

Having a working x86 copy of Android, and seeing its potential, I can't wait, but I don't see it going on much of anything in my home unless it'll power the PIII lappys...
I was about to ask you where you found an Android x86 port, then I saw this:
