I'm building a portable NES (or pNES, haha!) and need some help. I'm building it inside a gameboy case and want to have a 72 pin connector attached to the top of a gameboy cartridge that can be removed for better portability. The cart. slot is 2.24in by .24 inches. I need some sort of pin system that has 64 pins in that dimension. Anyone know of anything that already exists so I don't have to build something myself? Thanks!

You can get 64 pin IDE type headers/sockets here (http://www.pacificcable.com/More_Pages/IDEIDHCon/64-Pin-IDE-Connector.html) but I 'm not sure what size they are?

+Rep for trying but . . .
IDE size is too big. I thought of that first. I've seen what looked like a smaller version of IDE on Mini-ITX boards before, but I don't know what it's called so I don't know how to search for it. If anyone has a solution to this problem, thanks so much and +Rep for sure.

Maybe there is some kind of mini SCSI?

Why not use roms instead of cartridges?

Although I gotta admit, the cartridges are kind of cool in a retro/nostalgic kind of way.

can you use a ZIF connector and ribbon style setup like they use on iPod hdds and things?

like one of those? idk

I know you can get IDE to ZIF converters, might be way off track here but it popped into my head as being small :)

The NES on a chip I'm using has like 50 games included. If I could find a way to add more memory to the rom chip and put every game on it, I would do that for sure. Nobody's ever done that before though, at least not that I know of.

I just want the ability to use carts if I want to. There will be quite a few games that aren't on the included list.

I don't think ZIF is going to work. The cart. needs to be able to be inserted and removed like a normal gameboy cart.

I think we have a winner with Collinstheclown. I need to find a male and female HD68 or VHDCI connector now. The measurements are right (barely) for me to modify a gameboy game into a famicon adapter.
