First and foremost, which is the best brand in the GPS world? Secondly, I've narrowed my list down to these ones and I need help picking the best one. I have a budget of only a $100 which is why I picked these ones. If you have a absolutely must recommend one that isn't listed and isn't too much more than my budget, go ahead and list it. Thanks in advanced! Its a gift for my brothers new car. He does a bit of traveling because of his job so I thought this would be perfect.

Listed in no particular order...

Best one? I'd say TomTom. We have it and it's dead simple to use and quick.

I as well have used TomToms and have liked them. Simple enough to use. :)

My vote^

btw, if you can afford another $50.... this is pretty much the ultimate TomTom:

The best brand in the consumer GPS world is Garmin. They make everything from activity GPS (Forerunner series) units to vehicle navigational units (nuvi series) and everything in between. Garmin has the best consumer GPS sensors that I've seen (they lock in quickly and tend to give more accurate position readings). On the car navigation unit side, the nuvi is pretty good, but some prefer the Tom Tom over it (I've never used a Tom Tom, only a nuvi but really have never needed either (just give me a map :) and I can find my way)).

Garmin's are nice as long as you get text to speech. Avoid the higher numbers like the 700 series unless you need MP3 and bluetooth capability

Having a GPS that can play MP3 via your own radio is a little bit of a comfort, but it can also give you instructions via a bluetooth headset or the radio.

I decided to go with Garmin, but I'm still having issues picking which one.

Do all of these have text to speech?

Edit: Thinking about one of these two... kind of wanting to stay away from refurb but.... it is a larger screen...

The 260W is good. Wide screen is the way to go. . . . .and yes:

"Turn by Turn Directions with Voice Guidance/Text to Speech Feature"

I like Garmin.

Go with the cheapest one that has the features that you need. Don't go for too many "extras."
