has anyone used netflix instant streaming on their netbook? will it handle it? just curious as the only thing I currently use my old laptop for is browsing the net and netflix @ work, so I dont really need anything fancy (plus I love netbooks, think they are sexy as hell)

I kinda want to turn my old laptop into a sff htpc frontend. to do this, I wanna replace it w/ a netbook, which for everything I use my lappy for, I think it will be good.

also, what music players are people using on these things? iTunes should run on it, anyone have any experience? j/c :)

EDIT: got to thinking more about my lappy as a htpc, and got to thinking. Does the Intel GMA900 Series do HD?

My wife uses the Aspire One and browses the net and uses it to sync her itouch. I tried some video on there and it ran just fine but that was something like 320 x 480 picture. I don't honestly know what bigger would do. I know she does watch some youtube with it.

I'm using EasyPeasy, which is an Ubuntu clone. I recommend Linux on Netbooks. Moblin and Mint both look really good, too.

I love the Aspire Ones. they are really nice looking. As far as everything else goes, she likes it yeah? Its always nice to hear firsthand reviews.

She likes it from what shes told me. the screen is small but shes gotten used to it. too small for me. though if i didn't game so much I might get rid of my Dell and buy a netbook of my own.

yeah I agree small screen. But the portability and Battery life more than make up for it! lol. As for gaming on laptops, I am used to playing old school doom and the original C&C n warcraft games which will most likely run like a champ on even a netbook, seeing as how they are so old! lol. probably have to invest in more usb drives though. or a 64 gb one

probably. But the aspire one has 2 SD card slots so you could get something like a couple 8GB SD cards and run a lot of stuff off of those if you wanted to. I have the file server CDROM shared in case she needs to install anything from CD. Takes a little longer to install sometime but it works.
