Comes with free 500GB drive! :up:

SAMSUNG F1 RAID Class
-1TB Stoarge
-32MB Cache
-SATA II
-7200 RPM
-7 year warranty

Anyone one know what the "RAID Class" is? I know what RAID is, but whats makes this drive "RAID Class"? I'll probably get this if I can use it as a normal non-RAID drive.

**Edit: Sale ends this month. (7/31)

I think it means its optimized for RAID? that is a pretty killer deal! wish I had some cash to burn. :( 1.5tb for the price of one? not bad.

That's actually only a couple dollars cheaper than usual.

WD Green 1TB = $90 + WD Caviar Blue = $60, Total = $150

or...

1.5TB = $130

...although they probably aren't as nice of drives, which is probably why. Hmm...

Maybe this isn't the best deal now that I think about it. You can get 2 Spinpoint F1's for $170

There must be something special about that drive though. It's pretty expensive when you think about it and Samsung isn't usually in the game of screwing people out of their money for no reason. :think:

RAID class? I believe it has something to do with reliability ;)

Ya, the RE/Raid Class/etc are all meant to run in servers pretty much constantly being thrashed and spun up all while being hammered by Raid5/6/etc. They are supposed to have a higher level of uptime/reliability as crenn said.

If you are just looking for basic storage the deal probably isn't so hot. But if you need a RE type drive then maybe this is for you.
