I also like number 1 best. You should use bondo to fill in the dell logo.

^ what he said.
You might have to repaint after you do the window.

# 1. Definitely. And you could use either bondo, or that fiber glass strand crud. Don't remember exactly what it's called. O.o

I know that Murray's (now O'Rielly Auto Parts) has small cans. I bought some of the fiberglass bondo (seems to be about the same as the regular stuff, but has a longer compatibility list), and it works great. It might be a little tougher to sand down, if anything, but really no downsides.
You may want to get a big can so you can also do the front of the computer.

how much does a can cost at walmart?
and can someone help me come up with some ideas.. for the front, sides and maybe the top.
maybe some sketchups =]

I don't go to walmart, so I couldn't tell you. I just get it from murray's (now O'Rielly Auto Parts) or the hardware store. I think it was around $6 (maybe about six and a half?) for a can at O'Rielly's, but I can't remember.
A google search should give you a pretty good idea.
As I said earlier, I'm using the fiberglass bondo now.

does the fiberglass work better than regular bondo putty? as in sicks better and has a better finish when done?
i know alot about painting, sanding and i have worked with power tools and all this stuff my whole life, so im not scared to do anything =]

It seems to be about the same (maybe a little better), other than the color and compatibility list. The only difference that I really notice is the color. It's green.
It's the same price, and has a longer compatibility list, so that's what I got when I decided to continue work on my current mod.

Agreed. If nothing else get some sculpey and play around with it, when you get something you like bake it.
