right now i'm gimping along on a single-core 4000+. anyone got an X2 kicking around? esp a 4400+ or better? Has to be a 939 though Cash or trades ok

Had a look around and you are looking at up to $200 for a 4800+ on Ebay .. up to $100 for a 4400+

I think by careful buying you can get an Opteron for a better price. Opteron's are the same processor but "server grade" - they picked out the good ones and made them "Opteron" and the rest got packaged as "Athlon 64 X2".

Check out the top Opteron processor your mobo can take because Opterons have some great advantages:

- Quality
- More overclock room (because of quality)
- More stable (same reason)
