You know whats weird? Playground equipment and how much humans enjoy things like going down a slide, or swinging, or spinning around on a merry-go-round, or going up and down on a sea-saw. I don't know. I was just thinking about it today and was like "why is this s*** fun??". I mean really, why ARE these things fun??? And why is it so universal? Who, as a kid at least, didn't enjoy playground equipment? Pretty much nobody realistically speaking. I feel like there is an answer for as to why we enjoy these certain things, but I can't think of it for the life of me. Probably way over my head or something.

I think I know why we enjoy rollercoasters though. Well, some of us. Well... for me anyways. I like the feeling it gives me, its almost.. ticklish? (<-and why is that??) There are more reasons why, like I enjoy going fast and up and down, however I can't explain those. Although... now that I think about it, maybe I like the feeling of both weightlessness and then of course the opposite as your going back up and force is being pressed down onto you. But... why do I like those things? Must have something to do with our brains? Which I guess is just all thanks to random chance. We could very well of been a species that didn't have parts of the brain that allow us to enjoy such things. ...and thats another thing. Why do our brains work the way they do? Is it just how they're formed or what? Its like, I want to understand why these things are, why they work the way they do, what explanation there could be for all these things.. but I just don't know.. its kind of frustrating.

Anyways, humans are so strange when you think about it. lol

lol maybe. But that still doesn't explain WHY we enjoy those things. Even if you explain which parts of the brain are responsible for it, I still don't think that explain why it's so. Maybe its just all random chance in the end?

we are strange for far darker and more ominous reasons, as well....

I think I'm proof enough that we're strange. lol

My guess would be it started back at the beginning of mankind where entertainment was scarce. Playing catch with rocks may not have been so much fun back then because all they did was work, sleep and eat. More work just to play doesn't seem like it be much fun.

Also the idea of moving without exerting force is unnatural so it may tingle some sort of magical sense in the brain. I mean think about it... if you're on a swing you can continue moving long after you stop moving. You can not work... and move? I know if I had a lazy-boy on a swing I'd be in heaven.

Probably got something to do with neurochemistry and the inner ear. I don't know enough about either to say more, but probably something like that. Oh, also impressing girls...that's gotta factor in there somewhere :P

I think playgrounds are like liquor for kids.

I've had moments where I've looked at the human body, and just thought "Wow, we are weird lookin'!"

Watch Jeremy Clarkson's The Thrill of Speed.

I was just going to say that but I couldn't think of the name of the show. I would also recommend that people watch it as it explains the science behind it to some degree about chemicals in the brain.
