Yes I have seen similar attempts but this guy posted some huge gains over using AS5. I might make some of this in the future.

I've heard (read somewhere) that toothpaste performs about on par with Arctic Silver, however it dries out in 2 weeks or so and loses its performance.
This definatly looks interesting however.

Maybe if I make a batch I can offset the cost by selling some of it here

Honest question; Wouldn't gold work better than anything? Also, why does diamond work so well? I would of never guessed that! Just seems so weird to me...

Diamonds have the highest heat transfer rate of any material. They are after all 100% carbon in its purist form. It is also not electrically conductive so no worries if you have a messy install or an accident like you would with AS5 or any other metal based thermal compound. I found a few more home brew diamond thermal compound projects and all post similar gains.

Yeah, they're highly compressed, very dense.

it does work great from all that i read, i would have been a tester when it came out but they were only shipping within the US.
otherwise i use MX-2. though AS5 is great for holding heatsinks on (by itself or with super glue).

I like how the almost two year old invent geek article is making the rounds again (saw it on Hackaday for the second time earlier this week).

just found out MX-3 is out and seems to be the best out there.
