I joined twitter and posted a few things here and there...mostly when I had a new article for my blog. No serious micro blogging at all for me though. a few people on here used it pretty hard-core though..

TBCS uses it to notify members of new front page postings.

I can understand if you don't like twitter, but why do people always have to hate on it. No one is forcing you to go there and read about what they ate for lunch. It's entirely up to you. Twitter is as useful as you make it. Choose who you follow carefully and it can be a useful tool.

The wost thing about Twitter is its popularity, especially with the traditional media. I mean, the local news cast reported that Twitter was down today, which is completely irrelevant to what's happening in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Then there are the stupid Best Buy ads promoting their twitter address. The Verizon wireless ads with the stupid parents epitomizing the most annoying users of Twitter and Facebook.

Personally, I don't hate Twitter. However, I do think it is a fad, and really look forward to its departure from the spotlight.

I don't know how hard it could be to configure a RSS reader, I mean it's just XML. Twitter is more or less a proprietary format. Then again, I don't read RSS feeds and don't have a "smart" phone.

I guess those are all legitimate points. i myself wish twitter wasn't popular. I don't need to see it in the newspaper/nightly news either. To be honest I never made much use of it myself beyond keeping up to date w/ my friends, I know I never post anything useful. I just think there are people/organizations who do legitimately make good use of it.

Can only agree with you ... I thought I noticed a temporary drop in the amount of meaningless nonsense in the air.

Its only retarded/stupid/useless if you are. Not everyone uses Twitter for random BS messages. I like using it for updates from popular tech sites, updates from my favorite youtube channels (periodicvideos ftw!), etc etc. Its a great way to get everything not only into one area so you don't have to go site to site to site, but its also great because it doesn't waste your time, like going from site to site to site to see if there's anything worth checking out. They also usually only update you with interesting stuff, so you don't have to sift around all the boring useless stuff.

In this way, I totally support Twitter. ...however I would still like to see it die because I dislike oprah. ^_^
