Anyone know of a good online source for mechanical solenoids? I'm needing one for Clockwork, and the few that I can find are ridiculously limited. I need a linear-type solenoid, either push or pull, doesn't matter which, something that runs on 12v DC (or less) and has a stroke as long as possible. It's the stroke that's been limiting me, all the ones I find have a travel of about 1/4" (or less). Size is a limiting factor as well.

Anyone have any suggestions?

You may want a linear actuator rather than a solenoid. You will definitely find a longer stroke that way:

Look here for a start (http://www.google.com/products?q=12v+linear+actuator&hl=en&aq=f)

Also Remy had a second hand one that he wasn't using .. I was possibly going to buy from him but I'm limited in modding possibilities at the moment so you could contact him and ask.

You could always thread the rod of a smaller one and screw on an extention.

That wouldn't lengthen the stroke? I did find a couple at McMaster that have a 1-inch stroke, still shorter than I wanted but I think I can work with it. (Can't believe I forgot those guys, thanks Oneslow!!!)
