Hey guys,
This survey is very personal and I'm doing it for myself, I would just like some outside input on this. If you feel you have the time to take it please do its only 5 or so questions.
1. Where do you buy most of your computer hardware?
2. Do you try and keep up to date with the latest hardware?
3. If there were proffesional reviews that you could read and see at that site do you think it would lead you to make a "Safe" purchase? Meaning you
would completely know that your purchase was a good one.
4. For the sake of the survey may we use your full name and profession.
Neither will be given away, if yes please list both.
5. Do you think video or text+pictures would be a better review from your
point of view?
Thanks all!

1. Where do you buy most of your computer hardware?
Amazon.com
2. Do you try and keep up to date with the latest hardware?
Nope, its pretty much impossible unless you are pretty wealthy. I'll update when I need to though.
3. If there were professional reviews that you could read and see at that site do you think it would lead you to make a "Safe" purchase? Meaning you would completely know that your purchase was a good one.
Sure, I read reviews before I buy ANYTHING. I hate being ripped off or not getting what I wanted, so I make sure what I'm buying is worth the cash by first reading reviews.
4. For the sake of the survey may we use your full name and profession.
Neither will be given away, if yes please list both.

5. Do you think video or text+pictures would be a better review from your
point of view?
Depending on the product, preferably both. But if I can only choose one, I'd say pictures+text.

1. Where do you buy most of your computer hardware?
Newegg.com
2. Do you try and keep up to date with the latest hardware?
I wish I could, and in a year I probably could afford to. I try to upgrade one component (CPU, GPU, RAM, etc) every year. This year, however, I had to migrate from a P4/DDR1/AGP/IDE system to a C2D/DDR2/PCIe/SATA system.
3. If there were professional reviews that you could read and see at that site do you think it would lead you to make a "Safe" purchase? Meaning you
would completely know that your purchase was a good one.
I almost always read reviews on the parts I'm going to get. Usually, I know what I'm going to get before hand, but I'll use reviews to get a good grasp on the value of the product (its position in the market so I can judge whether or not it is worth its price).
4. For the sake of the survey may we use your full name and profession.
Neither will be given away, if yes please list both.

5. Do you think video or text+pictures would be a better review from your
point of view?
For the most part I can't stand Video reviews. The reason being is with text+pictures I can easily skip past the introductions and not as useful information to get the information I need/want quickly. Video may have fast forward/skipping but I'm still forced to receive information at the rate the video wants to divulge it.

1. Newegg
2. No, I do a bit of upgrading if something breaks.
3. Yes, and there are sometimes really informative reviews. I do read some of them depending on the rating the product received and my own personal knowledge.
4. Mike Collins, Warehouse Associate (pharmaceticals, soon to be scooters)
5. I prefer video, so long as the person has a plesant voice. Clear, and crisp. No mumbles, raspiness (is that a word?), stuttering, squeaking, etc...
Howeve, the video should really be just an overview of the product, what it does some specs, but nothing really detailed. The video should accompany a picture+text in depth review.

1. I buy most of my computer hardware from www.newegg.com
2. I try to keep up-to-date with what's coming out, but I don't (can't) buy all the latest and greatest, no.
3. I always read reviews. Professional ones do stand out above others, yes, but sometimes reviews by the average joe serve a purpose to give more real world feedback, not just in a test rig.
4. No thanks.
5. I would say text+pictures usually are the best. The occasional video is nice, but typically not neccessary.

Just a few thing you should think about doing if you come to do another questionnaire..
Get on to surveymonkey, it makes everyones like easier and you can make cool charts with the results. Its free for the first 10 questions and 100 responces. http://www.surveymonkey.com/
What is this actually for? questions asked dont seem like personal use...
1. Where do you buy most of your computer hardware?
Where I can buy the cheapest, Computer fair, Overclockersuk, Dabs
2. Do you try and keep up to date with the latest hardware?
No, When I up Grade I will spend some extra money to be "future Proof"
3. If there were proffesional reviews that you could read and see at that site do you think it would lead you to make a "Safe" purchase? Meaning you
would completely know that your purchase was a good one.
Not always, Inpluse buys get the better of me some times. Choices I make are normally good ones.
4. For the sake of the survey may we use your full name and profession.
Neither will be given away, if yes please list both.
I'm posting in a public domain so I doubt you can support your claim.
Simon, Networking Student
5. Do you think video or text+pictures would be a better review from your
point of view?
Text and pics. Vids are normally bad qlty and force me to watch for a long time and give little information back

1. Where do you buy most of your computer hardware?
MSY
2. Do you try and keep up to date with the latest hardware?
It depends, I only upgrade my hardware when it doesn't meet my requirements.
3. If there were professional reviews that you could read and see at that site do you think it would lead you to make a "Safe" purchase? Meaning you
would completely know that your purchase was a good one.
I look at reviews when looking at new components, but it doesn't always means I'll make a safe purchase.
4. For the sake of the survey may we use your full name and profession.
Neither will be given away, if yes please list both.
I will not give my name. Just put me in as Crenn Morda, Unprofessional Student.
5. Do you think video or text+pictures would be a better review from your
point of view?
It really depends, I think for individual components like a HDD, CPU or GPU a text/picture review is best. However for something like a PVR/HD Media centre system, a video review would be best to show the ease of use etc.

1. Where do you buy most of your computer hardware?
My friend when he upgrades for the most part.
2. Do you try and keep up to date with the latest hardware?
Unfortunately I can't afford to. I will buy something if need be but generally run what I have ntil it dies or my buddy has something better for cheap.
3. If there were proffesional reviews that you could read and see at that site do you think it would lead you to make a "Safe" purchase? Meaning you
would completely know that your purchase was a good one.
When I do make a purchase I always look at as many reviews as possible to learn as much as I can to get what best suits my needs.
4. For the sake of the survey may we use your full name and profession.
Neither will be given away, if yes please list both.
Thad Noffke, factory worker
5. Do you think video or text+pictures would be a better review from your
point of view?
Video is nice for an preview or if there are moving parts that pictures simply don't capture, otherwise prefer text and images.
