Try installing the RAM one stick at a time. Run a Memtest (http://www.memtest.org/),
Make sure you unplug everything first, and properly seat each module.

Second that.. remove everything, and add devices one at a time.

You may want to remove the heatsink, and reseat the CPU.
That could also cause the boot to freeze up like that.
Don't forget to reattach the fan wire to the 4-pin on the mobo.

The one time that I had that problem, it was a bad memory module.

Unplug your USB devices. It might be your USB printer. The biggest problem when it freezes at that point is because a USB printer, USB scanner or USB hard drive is stopping the post up.
The number one rule of computer troubleshooting is "Check for the easy things first".
Even if you've always had these USB devices connected when the computer boots, sometimes something happens and they now become a problem. I've seen this same exact problem with a lot of my customers computers. Just because something works one minute, doesn't mean it won't cause a problem 2 seconds later.
