I get home today to find a huge 11x14 pink paper stuck to my door. It has the huge seal of the county local tax office and in big black bold letters "Failure to pay taxes" I am freaking out thinking that they screwed up and never recorded the taxes I paid back in January. So I read over the note and the numbers are the same but the street address is different. The home on the paper is also listed as a mobile home and not my obvious stick built home. I can not remove it because it has also in bold lettering "removal of this notice from home front is illegal. Violators face up to 90 days in jail" So I go in and call the tax office and they show my taxes being paid. So I go outside take a photo and send it to the lady I am talking to. She tells me that they must have mistaken my home for the one on the papers. They will be out in a day or two to remove the paper but she tells me not to. That's not going to happen. I tell her this and also let her know that if they try any legal action for me removing it, I will sue the piss out of them. I live in a very gossipy neighborhood and this will have every one talking. My neighbor came over and asked me about it so I showed him the paper and he thought it was ridiculous too.

This is ridiculous for several reasons.

Well for 1 my street is a 2 word name. The one on the paper is a number for the street name.
The home on the paper is listed as a single wide mobile home where as I live in a fairly new house.
The zip codes do not even match up.
They stuck duct tape to an expensive jeldwin solid wood door.

How in the heck do they run day to day operations if they can not even remotely get someones address correct. This is what happens when you give important jobs to uneducated people. Thats the only way I can think of this happening. Someone saying "hmmm deese numbas sure do match up but the other stuff dont, Oh well because like da man said deese numbas aint never lied" I swear they must use the same people who throw out phone books from a moving minivan and hit peoples cars and stuff with them.

Our tax dollars at work, coupled with typical government incompetence.

Yeah that sucks. Thats government bureaucracy at it's finest. Sloppy and half-assed, then in no hurry whatsoever to fix the screw up. (But God help ya if you owe them anything)

Oh yeah, and,

Humans are some of the most inefficient creatures alive on this planet. Its almost comical when you think about it. I think this one chalks up to sheer laziness. Its not their job to be lazy and its not exactly super difficult to go house to house sticking pieces of pink paper onto peoples doors.

Now dolphins on the other hand, now there's a great species! Flying out into outer space whenever they want and all, being fed fish for doing backflips and other aquatic acrobatics, that's the good life right there....

My title as a person who can't remain serious for more than five seconds at a time never ceases to fail. lol

It could be worse.. at least this was the tax office, instead of a demolition crew like this guy...
