Anyone know where to get such a thing?? Its a great idea, but for $120 (http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/08/28/sexy-s-t-r-e-t-c-h-shelf-is-basically-a-giant-rubber-band/#comment-1085699) I don't think so.

Don't know how stretchy you'd need but some places bundle firewood in big rubber bands. and most places only charge $4 for a cord. At least they used to.

I would give it a little more industrial look and use a ribbed serpentine belt from a car or truck.

get a wide serpentine from a supercharger. that way you could put bigger stuff on it.

That's actually a pretty bad ass idea. It'd be awesome to get ahold of some cheap, used pulleys or something to use as the mounting device. It'd be sweet in a speed shop or garage.

you could just get an old innertube of the relevent dia and cut it into bits... gives you loads and you can choose what width of band as well :)

You could probably pick up some used Weiland roost pullys for around $50-$100 and a belt will run another $50. Would make an awesome shelf for $150ish. Thats a little much for me.

..... maybe I can go pull the pulleys from my procharger and have a shelf thats not very wide.

not the same effect i think. you could find stuff cheaper with a lil hunting.
