I can see this being good for Marvel, but what does Disney want with them?

Idk, but Marvel share holders must be happy as hell. Part of the deal is that for every marvel share owned you would get 0.745 disney shares. That way they aren't stuck with nothing.
Plus they get $30 for every share they owned...nice

That's a crazy amount of money! How does that even work? Do they actually have that money in their pockets or do they pay it over time or what?
With that kind of money spent... they must be expecting some huge profits in return.
I wonder how much Disney is worth? I also wonder how much their theme parks are worth... has to be a crazy amount.

hmm. well there goes the quality of every marvel comic book ever Soon X-men will be child friendly and wolverine will be declawed. Anyone want to take bets on how long it will be before we see a x-men movie done completely in Pixars bubbly 3d format?

or turn them into chocolate that he feeds the hungry with. This is the worst move marvel could have made. I wonder what Stan Lee was thinking....Well I know at the moment he signed the papers he was thinking $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ so I can understand that.

The Pirates of the Caribbean series was probably the best movies Disney ever made.

I can't express how angry I am at this. I'll post something coherent later.

With disney constantly worried about their "kid friendly" image and comics commonly being seen as "kids stuff" I have a feeling this could ruin marvel comics. It's kinda sad because comics grew up so much in the 80's and 90's (if not earlier I really don't know) and i'd hate to see them progress backwards to a time of censorship and childishness.

I heard this morning on the BBC news that this deal will only go ahead if shareholders agree to the take over. how ever small it can still be rejected xD

Disney owns a lot of different company's just because it's Disney doesn't mean they will make everything “kid friendly” they wont change every thing for the worst at least I don't think they would. The majority of company's are owned by a few big company's. For example A person may say I hate Nike that's why I always buy converse shoes little do they know that Nike owns Converse.
A list of company's that Disney owns.

What about Old Yeller?
The way they suckered all the kids into loving that damn dog, then RIPPING your heart out by shooting him DEAD!
Classic Disney! Every kid will remember that for life....
Chalk this up to the mouse cult growing ever larger.
Praise Mickey and pass the Koolaid!

Axis beat me to it. Disney owns more that you would think. Just because they bought marvel doesn't meant that very much at marvel will change. Marvel will probably get better. They've put out some pretty bad movies in the past . . . as bad as some bad Disney ones I've seen.

The new punisher movie.. why remake something that was only done a few years ago?
Another hulk movie.. Really? why?
No matter what people say, Daredevil was a good movie. Elektra (however she's spelled) was a TERRIBLE MOVIE.

The first Hulk movie sucked. The second was so much better. Daredevil was alright. Not really great but not bad. The rain effect was stupid. You can't see pupils. They're not on the same level and the rest of the eye. Electra was AWFUL.
