I got rid of it completely.

A series of pics from the haphazard/accidental beginning of my "project" 3 months ago, to where it is now.

First, a "before" pic:

I was swapping some parts and cables around on the motherboard, and came to the conclusion that I hated my case, and it was only getting in the way. Since my rig wasn't going anywhere anytime soon . . .

At this point I discovered that my stock CPU fan was annoyingly noisy, so I got a Zalman ALCU one to replace it. The one with a blue LED was the same price, so I figured why not.

Of course, once I got the quiet CPU fan, the power supply fan started to annoy me. Bring in the new one . . .

Then for Christmas, I got a sleeving kit:

Next to get the hoist were the speakers:
http://www.daemione.com/computer/tbcs/35speakers.JPG

And I also stuck on a couple molex LED thingies that I had gotten w/ the sleeving kit.

So that's where things stand for now. I'm thinking about ways to hang the monitor next . . .

lol, Gotta love when people hate cases XD It brings up the most unique results.

I've seen mobile PCs before, but when you add in other stuff as well.... so it's a full functioning computer, it's great!!!

Heh, funny . . . . yeah, when I was googling around to see if had been done before, I found a couple pics of hanging setups - didn't see yours, though. I'll post some links to the ones I found when I get a chance.

edit - actually, I just noticed that I started mine about a month before yours . . . so you're the copycat. ;)

Ah, sorry about that. I figured since it's still a work in progress I'd put it here.

I just upgraded to a better/noisier video card, so now I've gotta get a matching Zalman silent fan for it - that'll be in a couple weeks. And hanging the monitor should happen pretty soon. I've also got one more molex LED to put on once I find a male adapter I can salvage for it. Probably some more wire management once I get some more loom.

And the best thing I've got planned - instead of using the old case's switch assembly for power & reset, I want to get 2 huge knife switches mounted on the wall - like mad scientist/frankenstein's workshop type contraptions. :D

Heh, funny . . . . yeah,

is that sarcasm i detect or am i reading it wrong.

Also, what r u using to hang yours? Mine at first i used string but it all fell apart one night and now as you see i am using wire.

Nope, no saracasm. Just funny that people come up with the same ideas independently . . .

I'm using fishing line - 30 lb. test. Not the easiest thing to tie knots in, but it's working well. At last count I've got thirty separate lines to hang everything.

shocker((o))

Got the monitor hung . . . I decided to hang it from a clothesline-like apparatus (more on my motives a little later).

Pictures are pretty self-explanatory, I think.

As you probably noticed, the weight of the monitor on left side caused some sag, resulting in a crooked monitor. So I added this support in the center:

http://www.daemione.com/computer/tbcs/52zboner.jpg
http://www.daemione.com/computer/tbcs/53zboner.jpg

And the reason for using a clothesline, so I can slide it to the left:
http://www.daemione.com/computer/tbcs/54zboner.jpg

And then I can see it from my chair in the living room:

One last picture of how it looks from the chair:

You're probably crazy, but i know i like it :)

Surely you can't stop there? You won't be finished till the floor is a no-go zone! Why not suspend that big meaty speaker in your living room? Or your TV? Or your bed? You could lower things to create different rooms and...ok i'm being silly now. I'll stop taking the p*ss.

This mod is insane, but i'm jealous all the same. My hat's off to you.
Credit to Public Eyesore as well, you guys are both nuts (In the good way)!

This isn't a bad idea at all. I've seen some tension cable-suspended shelfs at the bookstore, And that would be awesome with such a mod. I'm not sure how involved it is, but it was rather attractive when I saw it.
