Hi folks.
I'm back again, after a short break. I've been spending the time with my girlfriend who was over from Russia for two months this summer.
I've graduated, and after failing to get a job I decided to go back to University for a PhD. I've been accepted and I'm going to be working as part of the MATCH project (http://www.cs.stir.ac.uk/~kjt/research/match/main/main.html), which essentially tries to help people who require assistance in everyday life to retain their independence. It's an interesting project, and I'll be working on multi-modal interaction, trying to find ways to do this without ripping out their homes and filling them full of sensors.
It's interesting that this sort of thing has always interested me, and what I originally envisioned for the TIP-3000...
In related news, my graphics card was recently added to the Legacy list by ATI. I was surprised, as it still plays modern games with the settings on high. However, with the small income I'll get from my PhD I plan to build a totally rockin' computer, with a new and revised case. It's going to be based on a lot of elements of the TIP-3000, not because I lack originality but after living with the case for so many years I've come up with so many things that I'd like to change; USB ports, weight, lighting, size, etc. So I'm going to scrap it and start fresh, probably in January when I'll hopefully have enough money to do so.
So, I'm sort of back. I have a couple of small projects of little interest on the go at the moment, but I'll be around.
Let me know how you guys have been doing.
