I'm assuming Visual not Turbo? I took Turbo C++ in high school but I would need to review some before I could help to much. I always used to forget the stupid <#includes>.

Look at "Problem Solving with C++" by Walter Savitch, it is a very good book for beginners (It's the one we used in class, and I found it to be very useful). It doesn't get into GUI programming, but it will give you a very good foundation to build upon.

I had Sam's Learn C++ in 21 Days.

Said screw visual C++ crap. Get a more simple compiler to start with, like CodeBlocks or jGRASP.

http://www.codeblocks.org/

It works wonders.
