I'm on an ATI kick at the moment - so I say the ATI for no reason other than that I love my 4870 lol. I've never had an ATI card fail on me yet - to the point that I still have my 8mb Expert@play PCI card from my first ever PC upgrade back in about 1998 - and it still works just fine. Last card I had was an X1950XT again - zero problems - before that was a 6800 which I returned 3 times in 2 years - my sons PC currently has a 7800GTS which is generating a load of dodgy pixels - and final thought - I just got my RMA to return a Nvidia 7600GS to BFG for a faulty fan.

It's only my personal experience, but I've found ATI more reliable than nVidia - performance wise - the ATI nudges ahead again, I think - last review I saw pitted a 4890 against a 275 and came out with "too close to call" - so logic says the 4890 SHOULD beat the 260 as it's a slightly lower spec card than the 275...

Out of those two, the 4890 is a better buy, cost-to-performance-wise.

I've never had reliability issues with a PCI Express video card from either manufacturer; the only modern card that gave me much of a hard time was an x1600Pro AGP, and that was due to the awful cooler.

Of those two, definitely the 4890. The 4870 is supposed to be about equivalent in performance to the GTX260, so the 4890 should out-perform it.

I've had good experiences with both manufacturers, though if you're running Linux, I would definitely recommend going with nVidia; their Linux driver support has always been way better than ATI.

Dude, not only is this gravedigging, but the GForce 4 is 6? generations old. The Radeon 95000 is also like 6? generations old.

Also, there never was a Radeon 95000, but now I'm just nitpicking ;)
