This list should help you.

I'd go with the iPhone. The only reason why I haven't gotten one myself is just simply that the monthly plans are too high.

Why? Just to get a breath of fresh air? What do you want/need? There really isn't a "best phone out of all of them" and if there ever was, it would be the iPhone. But it really comes down to the user and what the user wants/likes/needs etc etc.

There is the Palm Pre, HTC Magic (aka MyTouch), Nokia N97, Samsung Omnia (pro) and quite a few others that I can't think of at this very minute (but can probably be found in the list above). Its growing into a pretty large market so its pretty much impossible to say which is best and thus its hard to recommend one over the other.

Well I know for sure that the Storm is pretty laggy, although that may have since been fixed, but other than that I think they're all about the same with the iPhone being in the lead. Although I could be wrong in that.

Do you need calling? If you don't, Verizon offers a texting only service. Its unlimited everything except calling, which is like $2 every 5 minutes. You can get it for $35 a month for regular phones or I think its $50 a month for smart phones. Although, with smart phones, the price of calling is cut in half, so with a smart phone, even though you're paying $50 instead of $35, at least calling is more like $2 for every 10 minutes or something like that. Anyways, its a good deal if you don't use or barely use calling.

For Verizon, I'd go with an HTC Touch Pro, Diamond or Samsung Omnia. Otherwise, they're all basically the same really. Not too much difference. Just pick one. All the carriers suck, all the phones are just about the same and they all charge basically the same. The only real advice I can give is Verizon, they're still crap, but out of all of them they're the best.

You could always get a regular phone, like a Samsung Trance (pretty cool phone imo) and then get a touch screen PMP. Its nice to have everything in one though, I understand. But... if you are interested, get a Zune HD. The iPod Touch is $200 for 8GB, while the ZHD is $220 for 16GB. Good deal. It also has nVidia Tegra, OLED Screen, HD Radio, High Definition Out via HDMI... its just an all around superior device, the only thing it lacks is apps, but I'm sure with Zune Marketplace, that they'll be getting that sooner or later, its just money in their pockets after all.

Anyways, thats my two cents, maybe someone will be of more help.

THE N97!!! Rocks :)

The storm is a very very good phone with its different touch screen what gives excellent response that no other touch screen does.

the storm would win in my books only if it had the goodies what the n97 has and a better internet browser that compatible with university.

lol the touch screen on the Storm is one of the reasons why I can't stand it. The whole clicking screen thing is just too much of a bother in my opinion. I think its one of those things that you better go and play with first at one of the stores before you decide to buy. Some people like it, some people don't. I also though it was a bit slow and laggy at times, but like I said before, I think they might of fixed that issue?

I had an omnia for about a week and I hated it - for what that's worth. Texting on it was particularly annoying for reasons I don't recall - I just remember giving up on text messages and just calling the person instead - it was THAT frustrating....

Of all the touch screens I've used, I like my iPhone the best.
