So this morning I went and sat and failed the test to get my CCNA 640-802. According to their system I need 825 out of 1000 to pass. The first time I sat the test I wasn't very confidant and I got 776 fair enough. The second time I studied pretty hard and got 804. :dead: Has anybody on TBCS gone through this before? Or did you get your CCNA first time?

Any tips you would like to share? I know what area's I need to go over again. I am trying to decide whether I should try again next week or leave it a few weeks before trying. One of my pratical questions was the same both times which helps.

CCNA is, by all accounts, a bitch of a test. Studying might need to be complimented by hands on. Everyone is different though.

I commend you on attempting the test. Wish I could be of more help.

Thanks man. I know what areas I need to bone up on. Hopefully 3 times is a charm. Also I am thinking of building a lab with a few routers and switches to practice a bit more as you can only do so much with a simulator. I am surprised on one here has attempted it or has it.

Cheers

That test is a complete bitch. I took it with a buddy of mine, we both missed it by a very slim amount. Haven't retaken it though so I commend you on keeping up with it.

Good luck, third times the charm

Took it back in 2002. It's a tough test. A lab is a really good idea. Best of luck on the next try.

I *think* there is software that simulates the switches. Might be a bit cheaper than actual Cisco equipment.

I have used a number of them. They are all lacking in some way shape or form. The best one I have found so far is Cisco's Packet Tracer. Very easy to use. I know there are some simulators you can actually load and emulate real cisco ios's but they are a bit clunky.

Also you can resell the equipment for about what you bought it for. Also I might keep it anyway and put it to use.

It helps when your employer will cover the cost. ;)

Congrats on the pass, simon!
