I know this is hard. I'm trying to expand my horizons by hearing different music. I just started listening to Opera about a year ago and love it, my wife thinks it sounds boring.
What do you got for me to sample?

I have been taken to a few musicals by my gf. some of the songs are quiet funny. Also my olds like classical music. Some of that had some nice bits. I just close my eyes and think of scenes from halo for some reason. Also there is some jazz music out there that is nice to listen to that you can chill out to.

Have you ever heard/heard of Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War Of The Worlds? Thats an awesome double CD that I personally can listen to over and over, end to end - it's also the source of my nickname - one of the lyrics is "Man is born in freedom, but he soon becomes a slave, in cages of convention, from the cradle to the grave"

Gustav Holst's "The Planets".
AMAZING symphonic stuff, written around early 1900's. It'll blow your mind.. particularly "Mars, Bringer of War". See how many movie themes you can identify as being ripped off from it. :D
if your into opera, try listening to some nightwish, or now she has left Tarja Turunen, even a bit of Within Temptation, lacuna coil is a good listen too, if your really into opera then you have got to listen to Epica:

I have gotten meny people to enjoy this music, some even said they wouldn't even think of listening to it, and think opera is boring, but after this selection of music most think twice about it.

I listen to things heavy, and heavier. Speed metal, death metal, heavy metal... I can give some examples if you want (of the lighter stuff)
I also listen to classical. I think it is important

I have heard some awesome versions of classical music done by metal bands - you might be surprised at how well it works - then again, you might not be :p

I have heard some amazing stuff in that respect. Cradle of Filth has good ones, "Sepultura"s song "Valtio" is awesome, "Heaven Shall Burn"s "Awoken (Classical Intro)" is another good one.
I'm a sucker for heavy metal bands that do things like that. I'm also a sucker for techno remixes of heavy metal song. The "Passive/Agressive Remix" of the song "Bitch" is one of my favs

All of that was way too much like metal to me. Although, Simone Simons from Epica is HOTT!!

That's because it IS metal. haha.
depends on the genre... i have lots of "favorites". I'll exempt metal since you've already voiced a dislike of it.
