What the router is doing nailed to the floor.

Well, actually, I do.

We have an ancient Linksys Linux firmware Wireless-G router. Like, seriously old. Probably four years or so. Pushes a lot of PCs, a Wii, a G1 and a 360. It's been going downhill. Can't get updates right, torrents quit working. So, yesterday I speedtested it after I got off work.

On a 30mb connection, I got 1.2mb. I reset the router.

What happened next is of course an exaggeration, but it went something like my favorite line from an incredibly foul poem I know.

The selection was tough, I admit,
But it did not dismay him one bit,
Then, with arse thrown aloft
He suddenly coughed....
And collapsed in a shower of ****.

'Bout what happened. It gave up the ghost. So, I removed my fried, martyred router from the network, and my wife and I picked out a nice dual-band Wireless-N with storage port. However, before she got home, I had my revenge on that bloody router.

I nailed it to the floor with a six inch long railway spike and my deadblow hammer.

Basically, I had to prove the router wouldn't work any more. She was pretty well convinced, but I just made sure there was no argument. New router works well, by the way. She's happy too.

I just wishI didn't have to pry it up and repair the hole in the linoleum tomorrow.

It would have been so much more ironic if you could have chewed up the router with... a router. But all the setup time really steals the moment, doesn't it?
