so i picked up this card from a buddy...
figured since it was a BFG it would be a half decent card..
boy i was wrong... this card is KNOWN for burning out within a month of use... or days...

so this is my rebuild
first picture is the card...

Hmm, I'm guessing it came from an amp, and the fan from an early-P4-era CPU heatsink - HP/Compaq, maybe, I've seen 'em use that rebadger.

Nice work, anyway. Worth it to keep a decent AGP card around.

wrong on the heatsink... but i will tell ya the fan is from a AMD athlon XP 2200
... come on... i figured the remains of the back clamp would tell ya where its from.. :)

Probably a bit late to mention this, but BFG cards have a lifetime warranty - I'm in the process of returning a 7600gt for a rattling fan

So I might be getting a little pedantic here but *shrug* - you took a video card that overheats and "fixed" it by fitting a GPU cooler from an xbox360, which are notorious for overheating with that GPU cooler to the point where they melt the solder holding the GPU in place?

Here's hoping the BFG runs cooler than the xbox natively :p Course, the direct cooling should help

before/after temps
idle 57C/40C
game 70C+/49C
o/c **/41C

** = just crashed so i rly didnt get a chance to look....

Mhz..
original/overclock
GPU 350/500
MEM 333/380

512Mb DDR2

significant drop in temps...
im guessing due the HUGE increase in surface area...
i also applied AS5 :)
