Normally I wouldn't make a thread announcing something I bought, but I couldn't help myself this time. :):D:D:)

HOT DAMN THATS HUGE!

55" LED backlit LCD, with locational dimming. The Xbox is for a size comparison, and you can see my old (now broken) 32" LCD.

Was it the super thin Samsung one? They are a bit missleading, those are lit like conventional CCFL TVs, but just using LEDs. This one has "locational dimming" which means there is an array of LEDs behind the LCD itself to provide lighting. Sections of the LEDs can be turned on, off and anything in between to give deeper blacks and brighter whites. Once more they are RGB, which means they change colors depending on whats being displayed. That gives richer colors.

I did a good bit of research before hand, and was originally going for one of the super thin TVs. (BTW, super thin as in 1.8" thick, case and all)

I'll let you know though, I'm still finishing up the living room and building shelves in the closet for the A/V equipment. Blu-ray should look amazing! ;)

I saw one of the Samsung LED TV's in Tesco a few weeks ago. The contrast is unbelievable. I actually think that if the TV was showing the colour black, and the lights were off, you wouldn't be able to see the TV at all. As opposed to the constant pseudo-gray hum of the backlight associated with every TV since the CRT.

It's a nice looking TV mate. LG do some good stuff.
