could i use a vandal resistant switch as a push button start in my car? there cheaper than the button kits.

Should be able to - it's a standard push-to-make switch - you just have to wire it up correctly, obviously - there shouldn't be a huge amount of current or voltage going through the button itself so I can't think of any reason why not.

Check before you try it on how much current goes through that circuit on the ignition switch. On most cars that is the largest draw. But I know on newer cars they are using more and more relays to avoid so much juice going through the switch itself. Having had an electrical fire in my cars this year I cn tell you it's something you'd really rather avoid.

yeah what msmrx said. you very well could, but you will most likely have to put a relay in.

i was thinking about doing push button as well. i would go with a 12v relay that can handle at least 100amps.

but as for that switch it looks like a good one.
