I get a 3.1 on my laptop. Desktop is somewhere around 5.4 I think but isn't really working due to hardware issues atm.

I have 5.9 due to the hard drive too - altho I may need to update some drivers as it's a totally fresh install with only Vista's own drivers installed....

I dont count hardrive because I took 2 300gig velorapters raided them and still got 5.9 I took 2 wd 1tb blacks and even ran it with just 1 and got 5.9... so basicly it was rigged so I bought my self a nice ssd hardrive now I get a better score.. but I went back to vista with 2 300gig velocrapters.. because I do alot of writes.. the ssd went into another pc anyways..

I'm stuck at 6.3 because of my GTX260.

My raided SSDs get a 7.4 :D Actually my highest rating.

Most of mine are 7.9. But, have a tri-core, and it counts cores, not clocks, the asses.

I'll screen cap it tonight.

According to this guide (http://www.heatsink-guide.com/maxtemp.shtml), the 820 has a max temp of 63C, so I wouldn't worry about it.

gaming graphics 7.2
primary hdd 5.8 = even tho its 500gb drive

Im happy with score hope to get the cpu and mem scores up when I can be botherd to oc the system again anyone else have a C2duo 6600 running on water would like to know what others have reached

Whatever tests they run must be threaded for SLI really good, because my GTX260 only gets a 6.3 ...and I'm fairly sure it'll outperform dual 9600GT's on just about anything else.

I think the memory did good for dual channel ddr2 @900mhz considering there is tripple channel ddr3 at over 2000mhz.

Phenom II quad-core 940 processor 7.3
4GB OCZ RAM 7.3
GTX285 GPU 7.3
OCZ Vertex 120GB SSD 7.1

Until I saw this thread I thought the scoring was based on a high of 10, not 7.9. So I guess I'm happy with it.

I just built a new system for a friend with a core i7, Ati 4890, fast ram and great mobo. Still got a 5.6 due to the drives. I am currently building a system with a core i7 940, 6gb ram, ATI 5870 and an SSD. I will post the score for that one when I finish the windows 7 load....

I also have a build using dual quad core xeons, 12gb ram and an nVidia quadro 5600 with sas drives (15k rpm). I will post that one once windows 7 is installed as well.

I think even those powerhouse systems will not score high either, but we will see.

I got 7.3 all the way down, except the hard drives, which got a 5.9.

Mine scored 7.8/7.9 in everything except data transfer which got the usual 5.9. I even have two sata 300mbs drives in RAID 0 and it didn't change the 5.9.

Well both of the above systems scored 7.8 and 7.9, but still the hard drive was 5.9 for both systems, including the one with the SSD... Go figure.

That's weird that the SSD got a 5.9...was there also a spinning disc HDD in the system? If so, it may have noticed that and automatically capped it.

There was another disk and I thought the same thing. the second disk was not setup until after the index was run. I don't have the system anymore so I can't disconnect it and try again. I may ask the customer to try, but he is on vacation this week playing with his new rig...

So, running the RTM now, and finally back up to both Vertex' again, and now I've got everything at 7.2 except for the 'Disk data transfer rate', which gets a 7.5

It's interesting that there was such a big difference in the graphics score from the RC; looking back at my previous post, it looks like that index was at 6.3 for me in the RC. I wonder if that's all just drivers or what?

I'm just amazed that the 5.5 I get on my ancient P4 can still (kinda) hold it's own; dead centre of the highly popular 5-6 group.

Not that the Windows Experience Index actually means much.

A lot of us are held down my our HDD score

Konrad
08-23-2010, 02:32 AM
I use a ST3500410AS for system drive, it scores a modest 7.3. My bottleneck is 5.5 for RAM, then 6.1 for processor.

What I was saying was
1) I'm surprised my ancient Socket 478 appears to score in the same general neighbourhood as a bunch of (presumably) high-spec OC'd i5/i7 machines, and
2) I'm unsurprised that WEI scores serve as a broad outline but are essentially useless as real performance indicators.

Mine is:
CPU: 4,9
RAM: 6,1
GFX: 6,0
HDD: 7,5

Guess if I'm looking forward to my new CPU :D

"Which part gets upgraded next?" is pretty much all WEI is really good for, IMO.

mine:
CPU: 7.2
RAM: 7.0
GFX: 7.0
HDD: 5.9 grrr

it's a 500GB sata 3G WD caviar black, 32mb 7200rpm

kinda surprised my 3870x2 (it only rates single card if you have crossfire or sli) is still poppin a 7.0 :D

everything seems better with SSD!
I need to get one myself it seems like win7 is best on SSD.

Konrad
08-31-2010, 09:01 PM
"win7" is a subset of "everything" ... so you're right. There are limitations, though. SSD is no doubt faster and better than HDD, but it's still not the most economical. Your system would be faster and better, too, but perhaps not as much as your WEI score would suggest.

I noticed that as new SSD's come out the older ones are showing up for sale used still in really good condition for a fraction of the cost new, so thats always an option if you look hard enough.

At first I was very disappointed. Then I realized it only goes up to 7.9! Not 10 like I originally thought.

:D

Processor: 7.5
Memory: 7.5
Graphics: 7.9
Gaming Graphics: 7.9
Primary Hard Disk: 7.3*

*How is a Vertex 2 SSD only 7.3? I'm pretty sure that should be 7.9? What HDD or SSD out there is faster?? lol

RAID :D

There are actually several SSDs out there that are faster than a Vertex, especially if you dabble into non-SATA interface drives. Check out OCZ's Z-Drive R2 E88 (http://www.ocztechnology.com/products/solid-state-drives/hsdl/ocz-ibis-3-5--high-speed-data-link-ssd.html). 1.4GB/s max in both directions. The Vertex 2 line is downright slow compared to that. ;)

Me thinks they need to stop pushing impulsive buying habits and start using averaged scores. :p

I guess I better start saving for this bad boy...

I wouldn't spend money on a PCI-E SSD since they, as far as I know, don't support TRIM. A SATA ssd could be faster after a year or so of use.
