Ok, so I fixed this guy's Dell. Now, I don't do this for a living, and I am honestly unaware of how to do the pricing on this kind of work, so I want to make sure I am giving this guy a fair price.
Dell Dimension with a bad hard drive. Pulled his data off of his HDD, fortunately I was able to.
Re-installed XP.
Ethernet drivers were not there, and could not get usb drivers for the cable modem installed. This included a wasted hour on the phone with the cable company and their "tech support" Found the drivers using my pc, downloaded them to flash drive, got them installed on the Dell.
Downloaded SP3 and all the updates for Windows, wich of course took forever. and ever.
Had some nasty viruses on there, cleaned them up.
Transferred all his data back over.
Had an absolute nightmare of a time to get the audio to work. That literally took as much time as getting the ethernet to work. Then when I got it, the sound program Dell provided constantly reported an error, so I had to edit it in the registry to fix it.
had to reset the bios (as much as you can in a Dell) twice, cause the battery was dying, so I replaced that.
Installed Avast and ran another scan.
So I think that's it. If I remember something else, I'll post it too. He already paid for the hard drive, and I didn't mark up the price. So how much would you charge for all this work? I know plenty of ppl would not have had as much trouble as I did, but it was a lot of work for me.....
