Word.
I want to connect my audio output from my computer [3.5mm jack] to a couple a voltmeters that will skip around to the music.
So does anyone know....
the voltage range of the pc headphone port?
also do should the voltmeters be in parallel or series? [i think parallel from what i know]
Cheers

The actual Voltage delivered to the Headphones very with volume, frequency, and headphone impedance. but Based on a 1 kHz sine wave playback, 24-bit 44.1 kHz output format, -3 dB output level and 100 kilohm out put is about 1.4 Volts RMS

So your gauges need to be configured to handle at least 3V RMS max.

Also you want them to read the same so Parallel But you need to calculate the load that the two will create Parallel setup divides resistance by half and doubles capacitance. You don't want the impedance to be lower then 320Ohms... or you could blow the driver.

good luck.
