That's a good way to get started, i'd say look up some stencils at your local art shop the right size for the letters. The letters always looked a bit beat up in real life, so don't go nuts over detail. And they're normally at a slat, aren't they? I'm not sure if you could get a transfer or something for the eagle, but you could just paint it by hand and brush, old school style. :)

I'd also suggest aging it a bit when you're done, with aging paint, or maybe just get some light brown spray and get it from a distance so that it look dirty?

What about the funky little metal handles you usually get on military crates? You could easilly shove some of those on, just get 2 flat peices of metal and dent them, then bend a bar into a handle. Epoxy them on for looks, or rivet them on for a bit more strength, and i think you'd have a decent looking mod there. What sort of case have you got? Watch out for embossed side panels, they'll ruin the theme. Might be worth getting a new side panel pressed somewhere to make it flat, if you're going deep into this.

Good luck, let's see some pictures!

Thanks for the reply...

I also want to do somthing about the front of my case.

Does anyone know how i could go about changeing its appearance?

My main pet hate is the LCD info screen, I want to get rid of that but not have a hudge gapeing hole.
I would also like to wire up some new buttons.
For a WWII tech feel I would like those tacky little flick switches if i can.
and little rails down the sides.

This is what i have:

This is the kind if feel I want in the front (note the rails and switches):

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks

Hmm...yeah i see where you're going with that, it shouldn't be too hard i'd think to do this to your case. It's a shame to get rid off that LCD though-have you go an older case kicking about that would save you the trouble of trying to fill the big gap it'll leave behind?

no i dont have a spare case :(

I could always pop into the local pc shop but i dont want to spend alot on this project. The sprey paint will cost enough. Will i need to sand and primer the case or will i be ok to sprey over the top?

That looks pretty damn good! It's not too clean and cut, it's got a pretty authentic look to it.

I gotta say the owner of that carpet might be pissed though, better start running!

What you going to do about the front end? Any ideas?

I recomend putting on another layer of paint of the front panels, looks pretty blotchy. Always remember to spray in many thin coats, allowing each one to dry before advancing.
