To find the routing and account number do you have to have a check? Is there any other way? I'm trying to gather the appropriate information so I can setup direct deposit with my work.

I was just going to order some checks and save me the hassle, but they want $24 which would mean I wouldn't be able to get my phone if I did that, so I'm trying to figure out what to do now.

If you got starter checks they should have had a routing number on the bottom. Then if you've setup online banking you should be able to get your account info from there. They're charging you for the first stack of checks through the bank? Or you could call you're banks help line and they should be able to give you those numbers over the phone.

yup just call, or go in. Might be a hassle to get over the phone, wich is a good thing, really

You'll be able to get that info over the phone, but HR depts generally like to see a voided check.

The Routing information is bank wide, and then the account number is what identifies your account. There shouldn't be any issues for them to give it to you on the phone. Also if any one else you know, banks at the same bank, they will have the same routing number.

Thanks! Does anyone know US Banks routing number off the top of their head? or do they vary from location to location?

How long should the account number be? Is that the number on my bank card?

Really, just call the bank's customer support and tell them you want your account and routing number. They will transfer you to the right person, you will verify info like social security number and date of birth, and they will give it to you.

the routing # varies by local branch for us bank. :) and my us bank acct # is 12 numbers for my 2 accounts so its pretty safe to say its 12 for all reg checking accounts. (well, mine are student accounts but whatev)
