I bought this car with a good bit of paintwork required - I've had it around 6 months now, give or take and I've finally built up enough favours owed by the bodyshop I used to work at, and the guys who work there, to get it all done without it costing me, well, anything heh...

Bonnet hasn't been touched yet, but tonight I got 3 doors repaired, and into primer... Hopefully tomorrow, the primer will get rubbed down nice n smooth (hence the black dustcoat) and the wings will get to the same stage the doors are at....

Road stonechips which were badly repaired and then left for months in British coastal weather - lots of salt n rain...

And a little more progress....

You get some freaky-ass effects when you use the flash on an autofocus camera in a dust filled room....

Hoping to get the repairs & primer finished tomorrow, and paint on thursday - hopefully the car will be done by the end of the week.... Just in time for me to take it to the place I work at the weekend where it'll get coated nose to tail in mud lol

slaveofconvention

Beast? lol - hardly - 0-60 takes about 22 seconds - 1.9L diesel, non turbo...

It's going it's stock colour - I'm just putting it back to as close to new condition as I can - it's a silvery blue

You can't really see in that pic, but it's covered in stonechips which have been badly repaired so they rusted. It also had a pretty hefty dent in the drivers side rear door which is now repaired...

Couple of other pics of damage - I don't have a pic of the big dent lol

Chips on bonnet (these extend right up the whole bonnet or hood)

And a dent in the bonnet too

I can't take credit - the guys in the bodyshop are doing it all - not one of them has ever paid to have a computer fixed lol - this is payback time :)

I see you did the same thing I do. around jan or feb my car goes into the shop for the same thing. mine is going to be alittle more exstensive though.cant wait to see it done man.

slaveofconvention

More extensive? This is a full respray heh - I think every panel except one needs paint, and there's no real point doing every panel except one rear quarter :p

yeah more exstensive. the car is going into a shop for a week. when it comes out the front and rear bumpers will be changed, side skirts added, new headlights, tail lights, exhaust, suspension, rims, tint, and stereo system will be installed. possibly a carbon fiber hood and trunk lid (if money allows). the it starts the paint.

Just realised, checking this thread that my car sat in primer for almost a month - I only thought it'd been a couple of weeks, tops.... Ah well - there's been some progress at last...

Next comes the roof, rear bumper, front grille, then the whole car needs to be wet-sanded smooth and given a final polish - not too far from done now - hopefully more progress this week....

lol - ty - connections are good - in folding pieces of paper, it hasn't cost me a penny either - but it DID cost me a second hand dell, 3 call-outs to a friends house and a website :p

Speaking of connections - just been told I can get free powdercoating any time I want it too.... :D

Well I'd like to take a moment to thank the little (or big) scumbag who fell on my car last night, did about £250 ($400 us) worth of damage and then wandered off without owning up to it - great Christmas present!

And while I'm having a little moan, a second thankyou goes to the moron who clipped the car in the car park last week, did ANOTHER £150 ($220ish) worth and, surprise surprise, again, didn't have the balls to take responsibility....

Dude, unlucky!
You could have your inssurance take care of it, but it might risk it going up.

Does the car park have any video cameras?

slaveofconvention

I don't know which car park it was, unfortunately - it's just perfect height for a shopping cart/trolley and I noticed it the morning after I'd been on a christmas shopping marathon.

As for the insurance - they consider it (rightly enough) two seperate incidents, therefore two claims, two excesses (first £200 of any claim) to pay, I'd end up paying 90% of it anyway, and then my insurance would go up next year by about 30%
