I'm trying to design an external battery, but have never designed a charging unit for lithium-Ion batteries. Here will be my schematic.

Each battery is 3.7V and 2400mA. There will be twelve cells total and will be stacked as follows: 4 per serial and three rows to the final parallel configuration. Drawing below explains it.

Recommendation, buy a dedicated LiPo/LiIon charger. You'll find out quickly they're all microcontroller based. But if you're game:

I second a lipo charger. Charging Li-Ion batteries is touchy and if not done right they can and will explode. (there are videos on google of Li-ION and Li-Po batteries going boom) Most of the RC car guys I know charge theirs in a fireproof safe for this reason.
