i have a Asus p5nd2-sli motherboardhttp://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131578 and i would like to add a northbridge fan like the vantec copper fan. my question is will this tiny fan with its tiny heatsink cool better than the giant red heatsink that is on the motherboard.

I would suggest that, this would be fine...maybe rig something up to push a large amount of air over it...maybe putting an inlet fan on the side panel inbetween the cpu and the north bridge...idealy it would be better to have it closer to the cpu as it generates more heat...it don't matter though kuz if the rest of the cooling in your case is working right the flow should blow moreso over the cpu anyways. happy trails and good luck

It depends if you plan to overclock or not.

i have overclocked but is the large heatsink better than the little fan.

A larger heatsink may be better depending on air flow.

i have 6 case fans all 80mm and the rear will soon be changed to a 120mm. i also will be getting the 120mm blue orb II for the cpu which will go over the northbridge.

Then you should be fine with the HS on the motherboard, but if you do experience problems, you can always change at a later date or mod the existing HS.
