Rapture.
After over looking alot of case mods i decided to do my own. There were alot of great ideas out there but i think im going to do something new.
We all know our beloved big daddy's and especially Mr.Bubbles. so im going to bring Mr.B into my case mod. Ill give you an idea of how its going to look in a second and in a week or 2 i should post the final pick, right now im waiting on my tower to come in and when it does ill be busy.
"The Plan"
I think the hardest part of the job has been completed, (Finding a dome shaped object sucked.) Using a globe cut in have im going to achieve the shape of the head, i have materials for the eye holes and a paint to go along with the aged look. I'm painting it all right now and in due time i hope it comes out better than i expect. after this is all done and put together im going to paint background art on the metal sheet that slides onto the tower. (its going to be along the lines of Mr.B climbing through a wall he broke through with his drill (drills not made yet). so part of its going to be 3d. Im going to pack the inside of his head with lights. so out of the eye holes youll see blue or green, and when my pc shuts down red.(becuase its angry =( ) the front of the towers going to take more work but i know you Bio fans will appreciate it.
The entire computer will look rustic and old. Using bronze and copper paint i hope i cant pull this off, i know alot of techniques to get the effect im just looking for the best one. (sorry if im in the wrong area for this topic)
Sorry for my grammar, im in a hurry, but i wanted to pitch this to you guys, Ive been watching this forum more than the others and i like the feel. =)
This is Weegie. Signing out.
Sounds interesting; I'll be watching this.
I like the sound of the brass and copper but...photos, sketches, peek-shurs...we need them Weegie! :)

Wow! This thing is going to be much larger than I initially thought, which only makes it that much cooler.
Very cool Weegie! Keep going!

Im having a rough time uploading these pics, probably because im new, any tips?
Personally I use photobucket; it lets you choose to automatically resize the images to a specific size on upload, and gives you urls for various embedding.
Resizing the pics before posting them here will also make loading the page much quicker. Seriously, right now loading these is just painful, even on a fairly good broadband line...I hate to think what it would be like on dial-up. *shudders*
EDIT:
Dome does look sweet though :D

++ ditto
I like the keyhole detail; is there actually a real key lock in there?
Weegie

There is not. But im going to set it up so a key can slide in there and changes the color of the lights im ordering. behind the gears i plan on putting green and blue LED.s hopefully it will work out ok =) i think the glow outside the keyhole as well as behind the gears will be a nice touch. i was going to have the gears turn with the key but if you look at the inside of the panel where the gears are is a plastic grid so it makes it difficult to cut with a drem-tool
Haha, nice. Interesting idea. I love it when stuff that seems purely decorative serves a purpose...especially when that purpose isn't readily evident. :D

What you see are gears that i bought at a Michaels (arts and craft store) they already had the weathered metal look so i decided to work them into the tower. I cut the "rips" using a dremal tool to resemble as if a splicer was hacking at it. i used a little super glue to place the pieces one by one. i layered them to give the inside more detal.
these gears dont spin because the inside of the case is hard to work with. its a thin space so adding pins for the gears to turn on would be a royal pain. i might do it with my older tower just to test it out. but right now poor ;(
