sweet old GE AM radio that was built in 1946. My dad replaced the caps on it and it's alive! cool to hear AM radio played with a tube radio.

I know. my first thought when I saw that old GE radio was, "that would make a killer HTPC!! lol" but then he got it working, and now its just as cool (maybe cooler) as an old tube radio. lol

Nice find! I love those old Bakelite radio's.

I have an old Admiral portable radio from the 40's. Not able to find the battery anymore but it also has an AC plug. It still works fine too!

wow very cool. I'm sure that Philco radio is worth a bit especially if its in working condition. Abit not as much as the iconic cathedral style ones they made in the 20s or 30s.

An interesting story, if you haven't already read it, is the biography of Philo Farnsworth. He worked for Philco creating a number of inventions in his time. Most notably for the first all electronic television.

Mr. Farnsworth is from eastern idaho, he has a museum here, so yeah I know about him lol. and no, the Philco is not in working condition, sadly.

I can make it work. I used to repair tons of those old radios back when my adopted father owned a TV repair shop. We used to restore the big console TV's and stereo's all the time. He still has a closet full of tubes and old parts.
