I have to do some Sepia toning on some photos for a project I am working on. With a lot of my work I just use a basic sepia toning method that is easy and simple. It produces a good result but not a perfect result. For this project I need to be as close to perfect as possible. This morning I took a trip to a friends studio. He still shoots film and can do real sepia in the darkroom. So he showed me a few portfolios of his sepia work over the years. I brought one home that is kinda old (its pushing 30 years) so I could compare its golden tones with my digital edits. I would post a photo of it but I am afraid that scanning it will ruin its fragile surface.

So here are my results. How do they look?

Thanks. I was actually going for a "blown highlights look on most of them. I am going to print these test edits on metallic paper for a surreal "glow" effect

Oh! Mmk! Like almost a "heaven" look to things to bring focus to them?

Not really the heavenly look... Its hard to explain with out seeing a metallic print in person.

Those are all very good, though for some reason (lighting, composition, I don't know), the first one looks just about perfect. Nice work.
