Today was my "off day," which I normally use to work on stuff here on the site instead of stuff at Office Depot. However...
Wife gets up, has stabbing pains. We think "um, this is bad" and take her to ER. Turns out, it's kidneystones. They get her pretty well squared away, as well as getting her set up with a local doctor (she just got her insurance, and it's been something on her mind.)
So, I had to go afterwards to find new work shoes, as my GBX boots have holes in them. I head to Journeys, where I purchased my last three pairs, and they tell me there are no more GBX boots, they just make loafers now.
I go through almost the entire rack of shoes (I have deformed feet/ankles, I'm a bitch to fit) when I notice the pair o shoes that has been whispering to me the whole time. They're Bottesini (in other words, big money) but they're made almost just like my old boots on the inside. So, my wife says try them on. I do, and lo and behold, they fit like gloves. I ask the guy who's been ver patiently (and expertly) helping me find a shoe that actually doesn't hurt me how much they are. He takes them to the checkout and rings them up (I have to get what will fit me, cost be damned) and guess what I walked out of there paying?
I paid 9.99 for a pair of Bottesini leather loafers. Brand new. With box. In a retail store. My feet are extremely happy, and so is my wallet.
