ok once again i am stuck guys .
Mu mother in law has a acer aspire x1200 they didnt make there vista disk when they got it got a virus and she dosent want to pay to have it shipped to acer or for discs so she asked me to install her win xp pro on it well it has a sata drive .
the hd wasnt showing up so i went to make a nlite disc first time i merged service pack 3 easy enough and the drivers i thought i was suppose to get that i read on google.
were pretty standard it didnt work i know its a westerm digital drive but not really what kind it was manufactured in 2008 .

I could pull the cover easily enough but it has a void warranty sticker so im tring to figure out how to get the sata drivers acer has them but there for vista any help appreciated

Windows XP is older than the SATA standard so it doesn't include any SATA drivers...without drivers the disk doesn't work, and so Windows XP cannot install.

This (http://alter.org.ua/en/soft/win/uni_ata/uni_ata.php#inst_xp) should get you started. It's a generic IDE/PATA/SATA driver.

After you get XP installed, you can get all the drivers you need here (http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/). (Sorry, it's gonna download from panama...there was no N. America option in the 'Where are you located?' drop-down...)
