I just installed Windows 7 Ultimate and I am wondering if I should go get the drivers myself or if letting windows do it for me is the best option. Anyone?

I had to do it manually for my radeon 3870x2 (had to download the newest catalyst suite) and I had to go to microsoft's site and download the W7 drivers for my keyboard as well

I let it download all the drivers for me then I go through and update them manually. Mostly the video card drivers and special ones like a card reader or motherboard drivers if it isn't detected.

I had let it download all the drivers it needed. But several of the Microsoft driver's were very limited and held back my system. Specifically the driver for my ATI Radeon HD3850. So I manually went and downloaded correct drivers.

At my repair shop and on my personal machine i've noticed the drivers bundled with the OS seem to be more stable. I.E.
My personal rig:
EVGA 780I with e8400 dual core intel
4gb OCZ SLI RAM
GTX 260 OC

The Drivers for the system weren't stable from their site. They were even within the last few weeks. particularly the video drivers were giving me a BSOD issue. I uninstalled and reverted back to the original OS preinstalled driver and stopped my BSOD. This was also an issue with some card readers we install on our pre-built machines.

Overall, it really matters on how your machine reacts to the OS.
