Here it is folks, the digitization of America, no, the world. It started with words, to music, to full length movies. What's next? Porn? Oh wait someone already thought of that? Damn.

Well that's not the only thing that someone already thought of. But it's still a kickass idea. A buddy of mine did this same exact thing, only with a basic (that's Anne Hathaway basic) black case. But you're doing it with style. I like that.

Anyway, you're gonne need some stuff, obviously. First and foremost for this project you're going to need space. Space to store your media on that is. 100 full-length high quality movies are probably going to mark your HDD up to 80GB, one-thousand MP3s somewhere around 3-4gbs depending on what you're listening to. Then you got everything else like programs, pictures of your kids or grandkids, your wife, or that hot chick you found while browsing through Google pics, etc. So I'm gonna say a 250gb HDD should more than cover you for now, which are running for less than $100.

Next thing you'll need is a way to pull your videos and music from their physical embodiments. You can use either your basic IDE CD/DVD player, or a capture-card coupled with your already existing (I'm assuming anyway, since you have so many movies) media player. You can find both for under $50.

Next comes your media cards (I.E. audio and video). ATI and nVidia both have HDTV-ready video cards available. As for sound, I have a Sound Blaster X-FI XtremeMusic in my rig hooked up to 5.1 and it sounds phenomenal! But if you're not looking at spending $120 for the soundcard alone Creative has some other sound cards that have 5.1 capability for somewhat cheap.

And finally, why we're here today, the case. Sorry to tell you this, I'm not going to look for a case for you. And it's not just because the night is growing late and I'm tired as hell. Mainly it's because we case-modders believe our cases to be an artistic extension of our souls. Or we just think they look really schweet! Anyway, my point is that no one can tell you what looks cool. Well they can, but there's nothing saying that their right. Because what looks cool to me might not look cool to you. So basically, do your research man. Look around, see what's good for you. I'll hook you up with a few sites where I do most of my shopping.

http://www.newegg.com
http://www.pricewatch.com
http://www.thinkgeek.com <-totally off subject, but if you're a geek (and you sound like one) you should definately shop here.

And that's my long winded post of the night. I'm off to bed. Good luck and goodnight.
